Solar Electrician for Macomb homes and businesses

Macomb is in Macomb County in Southeast Michigan, where a large share of the housing was built between the 1920s and the 1970s. That means plenty of 60 and 100 amp services, fuse boxes, ungrounded outlets and, in some neighborhoods, knob and tube or aluminum wiring. When we take on solar electrical work in Macomb, the first step is often bringing those older systems up to date.

The electrical side of going solar

Every solar system connects to your home at the electrical panel, and that is where many projects hit a snag. The size of the panel's bus limits how much solar can be connected, so an older or full panel may need upgrading or a different connection method. Your utility also has its own interconnection requirements. We sort out those details for Macomb homeowners so the system passes inspection and receives permission to operate without delays.

Questions about solar electrical work in Macomb

Do I need a panel upgrade for solar?

Sometimes. It depends on your panel's bus rating and main breaker size. We check and explain the options.

Can you connect a system someone else installed?

Yes. We complete electrical hookups for installer-supplied and owner-supplied systems.

Does solar work during an outage?

Only with battery storage or a special inverter. Standard grid-tied systems shut down when the grid is off.

Does solar make sense in Macomb, Michigan?

Solar produces well in Michigan from spring through fall, with lower output in winter. An installer's production estimate for your roof will give you real numbers.
